FactCheck.org: GOP Convention Spin, Part II

FactCheck.org: GOP Convention Spin, Part II:

“The bridge reversal is not the only matter throwing doubt on Palin’s credentials as a government waste reformer. Watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense has reported that the small town of Wasilla, Alaska, which had not previously received significant federal funds, hauled in almost $27 million in earmarks while Palin was mayor. (McCain has explicitly criticized several of the Wasilla earmarks in recent years.) To help obtain these earmarks, Palin had hired Steven Silver, the former chief of staff for recently indicted Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, as Wasilla’s lobbyist.
And Palin continued to solicit federal funds as governor. A request form on Stevens’ Web site shows that she requested $160.5 million in earmarks for the state in 2008, and almost $198 million for 2009. ”

Not quite the reformer we though she was. Oh well, she’s done in my book if that’s all she’s got backing her story.

To quote a friend: “The Greatness that is the Daily Show.” I agree.

As Mayor, Palin Used Funding Ploy She Now Decries : NPR:

“Under Gov. Palin, the state’s quest for federal earmarks has not slackened.
Also, during her tenure as mayor of Wasilla, the city hired its first Washington lobbyist to get earmarks.”

As more details emerge, one wonders if this candidate was given an even cursory vetting. At a minimum, you shouldn’t flip flop on trademark issues. Wow.

“‘The most qualified? No. I think they went for the — excuse me — political (expletive) about narratives. … Every time the Republicans do that, because that’s not where they live and that’s not what they’re good at, they blow it.’”

Ouch.

Palin: Iraq war ‘a task that is from God’ – Yahoo! News

Palin: Iraq war ‘a task that is from God’ – Yahoo! News:

“ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a ‘task that is from God.’
In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it ‘God’s will.'”

(Via Yahoo! News.)

I love God too, but last I checked, pipelines and war weren’t among his top priorities.

I Guess He’s Proud of His Country Now…

Political Punch:

“So the facts are: Gov. Palin was not a member of this third-party (‘Alaska First — Alaska Always’) that wants Alaskans to get a vote on whether or not the state can secede from the U.S. But her husband was a long-time member, and at least two AIP officials recall her attending the 1994 convention, though she says she did not attend.”

ROFLMAO. I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.

Frankly, whether CNN was fair or not doesn’t matter. Can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. If you a make experience a selling point, give an example!

A Product Transition: Giving MacBooks the iPhone Touch — RoughlyDrafted Magazine

A Product Transition: Giving MacBooks the iPhone Touch — RoughlyDrafted Magazine:

“That gives Apple the opportunity to blow away users with a feature that would clearly differentiate its mobile line for years, more closely associate its Macs with the iPhone brand, and jump from today’s 8 to 10% of the US market to a figure closer to 30% within just a year. We already know Apple has 66% of the consumer-oriented retail market for machines above $1000 in the US; why not take the rest?”

The idea is crazy enough to be true.
